The first step in a Genetrix analysis is to import the collected array data into a project. You can include multiple array types in a single project by doing a separate import for each. After you have created a project, you can still import additional samples or features. Import capabilities include the following:
Import array data for new samples and features into a new or existing project
Import array data for new samples where the features already exist in the project
Import additional feature data for samples that already exist in a project. This can be either a data type (platform) that already exists in the project or a new platform.
When you import data into a project, the data are linked via common identifiers to a feature-specific annotation file that you select during the import process. Genetrix also includes system-wide genome annotations that are linked to project data when a project is opened. These are not saved as part of the project file, but rather are included in the Genetrix application.
You ordinarily import array data into Genetrix from text files, but you can also import expression or expression plus RNA data directly from Affymetrix cel files.
